About Gypset Honey…

Gypset Honey brings the spirit of a gypsy soul and adventurous life into designs for jewelry, fashion and home accessories. Bohemian attitudes, eclectic tastes and energetic ideas unite in the studio bringing simple beauty from a growing collection of treasures and objects of art, using both new elements and vintage finds.

Designer and company founder Deidre Anne Froelich gained her inspiration to bring these designs to the public from Honey – her grandmother Frances Ann Bell Froelich – who lived her life as an individual grounded by family but with a passion for travel, adventure and knowledge. In Honey’s lifetime, she traveled to over 80 countries bringing home with her an appreciation for the variety found in the world and for the wonderful home and family she loved.

Honey was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and spent the next four years facing her battles head-on. She refused to give up and spent each minute of every day making notes to pass on to her family and friends, tying up any unfinished business and still learning and enjoying new discoveries. Her memory was incredible with details and dates and names and numbers, like an encyclopedia of a life well-lived. Her life was indeed a journey and a celebration until the very end. Gypset Honey was named in her honor and started with a financial gift tagged with her encouragement to follow the passion now.

Deidre Froelich is a Native Texan, born and raised in the small town of Bonham where everyone truly does know you. Enjoying the land, swimming in the Red River and collecting fossils on the River beach has been a family activity. Creating jewelry from found objects started at an early age, from daisy chains to stringing shells from Galveston beaches. Her earliest finished pieces were completed as the family visited Native American galleries in New Mexico. She begged to then visit local bead supply shops to create her own designs in the hotel room at night. Attending The University of Texas, majoring in fashion design, Deidre selected her internship in jewelry design and silversmithing. Signature to her early collections were Gypset Honey handpieces and necklaces featuring her Karma Crystal Bullets. In addition to jewelry, her creations include Gypset Honey Dreamers, a series of dreamcatchers, and other decorative items.

Since founding Gypset Honey, Deidre has pursued the passions of travel and design. Living in eclectic areas of Austin, Houston and Dallas in Texas, Venice Beach and West Hollywood in California, and recently designing in the studio just off Jackson Square in New Orleans, she has embraced the people and cultures of interesting areas and communities. Following Honey’s passion for travel, she has spent time on beaches and in villages of Caribbean islands, Indonesia, Central and South America. In all areas of travel, Deidre has sought out the unique techniques and materials of local artists and crafters, inspired to incorporate them into Gypset Honey creations. The newest evolution of the Gypset Honey Studio is the Lil Boheme Machine, a tiny RV purchased in January 2019.

Knowing about Gypset Honey also means knowing about Tyson, Deidre’s constant companion and sidekick. Nearing 15 years old, this pug has traveled more than most humans across the U.S. by plane, SUV and RV helping Gypset Honey greet new friends and clients in boutiques and markets.

Giving back to those affected by cancer drives Gypset Honey’s charitable efforts. This began with a special fund called Gypset Honey for More Birthdays* set up with the American Cancer Society in Honey’s memory for donations to fight cancer through research, awareness, patient assistance and hopefully, cures. Changes at ACS prompted a change in the fundraising link to Gypset Honey’s Live-Love-Give in late 2018. A portion of Gypset Honey’s sales go towards fighting cancer and related projects community programs and direct patient outreach.

With Gypset Honey, Deidre Froelich creates jewelry and designs for lifting the heart, sharing Joy and Hope and bringing positive happy messages.. Dancing to the music of life, working with natural and vintage elements, embracing the magic and opportunities of Life, Deidre Froelich and Gypset Honey wish all Peace, Love & Travel. 
